Nikola Tesla (1856–1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, and visionary known for his pioneering work in alternating current (AC) electricity, which became the standard for power transmission. Born in Smiljan, Croatia, Tesla immigrated to the U.S. in 1884, working briefly with Thomas Edison before developing his own innovations. His inventions include the Tesla coil, AC motor, and contributions to wireless communication and X-ray technology. Despite his brilliance, Tesla struggled financially and died in obscurity. His eccentric personality and futuristic ideas, like wireless energy transmission, cemented his legacy as a genius ahead of his time.
